My puppy got into my older dogs cardiac meds and ate the entire bottle ( 50 pills!). I searched for “emergency vets near me” in bend and this was the first that came up. I called frantically on the way driving to the place to confirm I could bring him emergently and they told me to bring him on in. They were very nice and saw him promptly. She told me his heart rate was about 250 at the time of assessment. The doctor was very kind but stated that she had to leave the office for a short time and would be back soon. This made me spiral emotionally. They gave him medications to induce vomiting, to lower his heart rate, and for nausea. They also took his blood pressure twice. They offered to keep him for a bit to monitor him but that was optional and stated “the emergency was over as far as they were concerned” which was great news. I opted to keep him there for roughly 2 hours because it made sense to me that he be monitored a bit longer. The vet was amazing and so kind. The reason I’m writing in detail is because of the bill. I was charged about 650 dollars for the IV medications, exam, and monitoring for a short time. I was so stressed I didn’t think twice and paid it. The part that stood out the most was that on the itemized receipt, I was charge 250 dollars for 2 blood pressure readings. I’m just wondering if this is a normal price range… it just seemed insanely expensive when considering the situation and interventions completed. Five stars regardless because they are amazing but WOW that price seemed crazy to me!

The staff and Dr Johnston are the most caring, loving, kind at Central Oregon Animal Hospital. Everyone makes you feel very comfortable. Dr Johnston explains everything in detail and never rushes you. He treated our dog as though it was his own. I highly recommend Dr. Johnston and the Central Oregon Animal Hospital. Our dog Sam passed away last October. We now have a new puppy 12 weeks old and would not have anyone but Dr David Johnston see our pup, Jeb. Dr Johnston is the kindest nicest person! So caring. We highly recommend him.

5/5 Stars – Vacation Saved! I was visiting my mom with my 14-year-old Bugg—a 50% Pug, 50% Boston Terrier, 100% anxious golden-girl—and needed to get her seen fast. She was absolutely terrified, but the incredible staff and vet at Central Oregon Animal Hospital worked total magic, making her feel safe, cozy, and cared for instead of just rushing through a routine. They treated my sweet senior like absolute royalty, and if you're traveling with a pet, I can’t recommend these folks enough!
